What do you think of when you think of magical things? I think of unicorns, rainbows, Harry Potter and trips to Disneyland. I definitely don’t think of going to the dentist!
But what if I were to tell all you needlephobes out there, that you no longer need to live in fear of a visit to the dentist? I bet most of you worry that you will need a filling, an extraction, or anything that could involve us poking at your gums with a lovely, long, sharp needle.
Well, trust me, you can now relax, and you can come and see us without worry.
What is The Wand?
We are in possession of a miraculous piece of kit called the Wand, and it is amazing! Instead of using a traditional needle that penetrates the gum, it instead uses a tiny little probe to administer anaesthetic between the tooth and the surrounding soft tissues.
Both the Wand and the traditional needle and syringe use exactly the same anaesthetic, but the delivery method of both is completely different. Using a computer to control the flow, and a foot pedal so that we are in total control, the anaesthetic is delivered in a slow and gentle manner, comfortably, calmly, and without pain.
It was designed with nervous patients specifically in mind! But we love it so much, we just use it on everyone.
